2022 ASA May 18 Updated Coaches List and Meeting Reminder

Below is the updated list of coaches who have completed their requirements for background checks and coaches certification. Please check the list to see if your coaches are included. Please note, coaches under age 16 will not be listed in this list, due to limits on background checks for them. If you have any questions about this, please e mail at [email protected]. Please note some coaches have used a different name for the course and the check, so we are having to manually cross check those so there many be some missing names.

Updated Coaches Certification and Background Check Completed List as of 5-18

List 1 are the coaches who have completed their certification course. List 2 are the coaches who have completed their background check. Please remember all coaches age 16 and over must complete a background check prior to working with swimmers during the season.

If your coach is not on list 2, they have NOT completed their background check and will NOT be permitted to coach until the do so.

These coaches should not be on deck or working with swimmers until this has been remedied. Failure to meet this requirement will subject the coach and team to fines and further penalties.

We appreciate your patience. Because many coaches do not use the same name, We are having to manually cross check the lists with about 800 names. I do not know if "Tom Jones" and "Bob Jones" are the same swimmer or a swimmer and volunteer so I can not include them on the list until I confirm that they are the same person.

Also, any backgrounds checks being processed for updates do not make this list and will be included in the next list.

Coaches’ Meeting/Rules Clinic

Please remember, coaches are required to attend one of the two mandatory coaches’ meetings on either Saturday, May 21 or May 28. At least one member of your coaching staff must attend one of the rules meetings or your team is subject to a fine from the league. If they participated in the April rules Zoom meeting they have met this requirement. The May 21 meeting will have a virtual option (as well as in person), the May 28 meeting will be in person. Both meetings will be available in person at the Marist pool at 3970 Ashford Dunwoody Rd. The link for the May 21 meeting is as follows

I strongly encourage teams to send as many of their coaches as possible to the meeting though, as it covers a great deal of pertinent info on the league and this season.

Ribbon Pickup

Teams will have several options for ribbon collection. Many of you already picked them at the ribbon pickup/meet procedure meeting. Your coaches can pick them up during one of the coaches meetings, or we can deliver them to you (for a fee). Please refer to the following form to select the option that best fits the needs of your team Ribbon Pickup Form .

Marist has asked that we not come onto campus until then, due to school being in session. They have been gracious enough to provide us a central location for teams to swing by, please show your gratitude by following these instructions. Please do not try to come to Marist outside of the remaining scheduled pickup times during the coaches meetings to collect your ribbons.

You may come by the upstairs lobby of the pool after that time to pick up your ribbons. Marist is located at 3790 Ashford Dunwoody Rd., the pool is at the back of campus. Please make sure to take the correct team box, there is a label sheet in the top of each box that lists the team name, as well as all of the contents of the box. Please check your box to make sure what is listed on your team's box is what is in the box. If your team received significantly fewer or more ribbons that what is listed on your box, e mail me and I will make arrangements to fix any goof ups on my part.
